Volunteering with Let's Get Growing
We are blessed with a team of very committed volunteers, who are essential to our work, especially in enabling us to support vulnerable participants attending our nature therapy days at Minsteracres. We are always pleased to welcome additional help and happy to have an informal chat if you think you might be interested in joining our team. Previous gardening experience is not essential, just an enjoyment of fresh air and being in the countryside. Support is welcomed both with helping participants with a range of needs and with garden maintenance, or more usually a mix of both.
Here’s what some of our current volunteers have to say about the project......
"I love going to the Peace Garden to be with the gardening group. It fulfils a need to engage with people in a meaningful way, work in a beautiful setting, whilst growing and eating our own food. It’s the best day of my busy week."
"The first week of retirement I joined the Peace Garden as a volunteer and nearly five years later I'm still there. I still tell everyone it's the most inspirational project I've ever been involved with, and I've been involved with a great many in my time."
"Having worked extensively in the public and voluntary sectors I know how hard it is to ensure people enjoy themselves and get what they need in group settings. Usually lots of rules and regulations get in the way, but the therapeutic gardening group is managed in such a gentle, inclusive way that each individual feels that they belong and that they have much to offer."
If you would like to join us as a volunteer, do get in touch for an informal chat.
